About this exhibition

MOTION + ILLUMINATION, an exhibition of contemporary Iranian paintings, provides a vibrant view of today’s art scene in Iran. The exhibition features the work of two established Iranian artists.

Fariba Bahrami: a veteran Iranian woman artist who has dazzled audience with her fearless brush movements, creating abstract roosters, horses, and deer. In this exhibition, Bahrami presents “free line” as an essential foundation of art.  By reducing color and using different size brushes, the artist creates forms with lines and shows a stunning movement. In the Roosters collection, the artist offers formal images of the bird founded on Iranian motifs and beliefs of rooster. With free lines and a vague realistic background, abstract roosters come to life.

Hossein Cheraghchi: an emerging artist who is known for the fast growth and maturity of his work. Cheraghchi has a soft relation with canvas and with the world around him. In creating his work, it appears that he captures all imaginable lights and confines them into a simple canvas as if showing the first light of dawn through a plain window. By refraining from excitable behavior and by brush movements caressing canvas, Cheraghchi’s paintings introduce a new style in Iranian abstract art scene.
